Many people today do not have enough time to go the gym due to their busy schedule. Other’s though may simply be too lazy to regularly drive to a gym in order to workout.
Recently there have been quite a few advertisements on TV for door gym solutions. These products provide an affordable way to stay in shape at home and without taking too much space.
Two popular door gyms are currently the Tower 200 and the Weider X-Factor. They both work by hanging onto a door and uses resistance bands for you to workout with.
Both of the products state that they can provide about up to 200 lbs of progressive resistance. Now contrary to what the products might claim, they most likely won’t help you look like Rambo. And they probably won’t do much for people that are already hardcore bodybuilders or professional athletes.
But for everyday people who are in decent, average or poor shape, these products can help tone your body and help you become fitter. Plus one of the main benefits is that they are convenient and really takes up no space at all.
Tower 200
The Tower 200 is the more popular to the two products since it is being endorsed by MMA fighter Randy Couture. It sells for around $160 and includeds a set of hand grips, a set of ankle straps, an exercise guide, workout DVD and wall chart.
If you purchase the Tower 200 from the official website, you’ll also receive a bonus workout DVD, a bonus 80 lbs or resistance to upgrade the Tower, as well as free shipping and handling.
The Tower 200 already comes pre-assembled so in most cases it literally takes just minutes to setup. The product can pretty much fit on any door and requires very little clearing on the top or the bottom. The Weider X-Factor on the other hand needs a bit more space on the top and bottom of a door in order to work.
While the stated resistance levels of the Tower 200 and Weider X-Factor are the same, based on reviews the resistance bands of the Tower 200 is actually harder to pull. This is because the resistance bands of the Tower 200 is made with a material similar to bungee cords while the X-Factor uses a rubber material.
Weider X-Factor
The Weider X-Factor is more affordable than the Tower 200 at $99. It also comes with 2 handles, 2 ankle straps along with 3 workouts DVDs, an exercise chart and a downloadable nutrition guide.
The product also comes pre-assembled so you could have set it up and ready to use fairly quickly. Although you do need to have around 1/4 an inch of clearance on the top and bottom of your door for it to fit properly.
Based on reviews, the total resistance of the Weider X-Factor doesn’t quite match that of the Tower 200. However it still can provide an intensive enough workout for most people.
Also based on individual reviews, the resistance bands of the Weider X-Factor show less wear and tear after a few months of usage compared to the Tower 200. However it is only a cosmetic issue and shouldn’t affect the performance of the product.
The exercises you can do with the Tower 200 and Weider X-Factor are pretty much the same. The exercise guide and DVDs included in the products may show you some techniques not shown in the other. Plus you probably can also come up with some exercises of your own too. You can also find new exercises by looking up different resistance band exercises online.
